Construction Completes at TechRev York

(York, Pa.) Construction has completed at TechRev York located in downtown York City at the site of the former Western National Bank. The bank had been donated to the YMCA of York and York County in the late 1970s and was being used for weightlifting, racquetball and a baseball academy. While it had been underutilized for decades, the building provided a blank canvas for the academy and required minimal renovations for conversion.

Designed by CORE Design Group, the 7,367-square-foot building features two classrooms and several offices and labs that can be rented out to small tech start-ups or local businesses. The historic architectural style of the building allowed CORE to integrate many aspects into the new design, like the former bank’s vault. The project commenced on February 10, 2020 but completion was delayed due to COVID-19 and the associated construction shutdown, mandated by the Pennsylvania government. Mechanical, electrical and plumbing was designed by Paragon Engineering Services, Inc. and construction was completed by Campbell Associates – both local to York, Pa.

TechRev York’s mission is to inspire, connect, and enable economic opportunity by making 4th Industrial Revolution technologies equitably accessible. Through this, they are able to bridge the gap between high-growth job opportunities and under-represented or historically-disadvantaged populations.
