The York Suburban Middle School had an outdated and inefficient layout for its cafeteria and kitchen. The existing cafeteria was broken up into two separate dining areas with the kitchen in the middle. The two dining areas was not sufficient for the amount of students, so an adjacent space was being underutilized as a lounge / expanded dining area.
CORE provided a design that rearranged the existing spaces creating a new kitchen with a dedicated servery, and one larger dining area appropriately sized for the immediate dining needs as well as projected growth.
A small lounge addition was added adjacent to the cafeteria. In addition to the cafeteria the District wanted to address security concerns for the Middle School. CORE provided a design that rearranged the Main Office, Guidance, and two classrooms. The new design created a new secure vestibule that allowed for direct access to the Main office.
